BGR International personnel and partners responded to the two earthquakes in Nepal. The immediate response in 2015 allowed us to distribute food to assist with nutritional needs and tarpaulins for shelter for several hundred families. We also did a blanket distribution. Once the initial response was complete, phase two was to provide temporary shelter from the oncoming monsoon season. Quonset huts were built of steel and roofing tin. The huts were used for housing and schools in the Sindhupalchouk area of Nepal. The building materials were later repurposed for phase 3, building permanent housing for more than 80 families. The funds released in 2016 were part of final building in phase 3 which was completed by the end of 2016. The housing built was approved by both local and federal government officials. Our work with the community leaders has been praised by local officials.
